Thank You to Altenew

Spending time with Altenew is always a pleasure and our DTs want to thank Altenew for their wonderful sponsorship of Die Cut Divas.

You only have until 9:00 p.m. Pacific time to enter the Die Cut Divas challenge.

Die Cut Divas theme for the month of August is "watercolor real or faux".

"Watercolor real or faux" includes splattering of water on distress inked panels, application of a water spritzed stencil to pull up distress inks from a distress inked panel and smooshed backgrounds, so there's lots of techniques you can go with for watercolor real or faux.

Arlene water colored a tag (Book Club) and then used it on her card. You can check out her blog at A Bit of This and That.
This is a Tag                            Card made with the Tag

Linda used the same bookplate image (thanks Arlene!) and watercolored it for a card.
See more details on her blog (Scrappin', Stampin', & Singin').

Dawn has used Nature Blossoms for her card  (details on her blog

Sue N used Altenew's Floral Shadow stamp set and a faux watercolor technique to create her card. For more details, check out her blog.

More watercolouring with Altenew

Hi there.  It's my day to share at Die Cut Divas...

Our theme for the month of August is "watercolor real or faux".

The Prize will be a $20 gift certificate to Altenew.

Today I am using the cutest little stamp set called "Rosie Posy" My delightful team mate Cindy kindly gave me this little set. I gold embossed it onto some watercolour paper and then used Altenew's Woodless Watercoloured pencils. I did a little watercolouring wash around it. I then went overboard a bit with splatters. I used Gina K Master Layouts to cut my layers

Do come and join us.

Faux Watercolouring with Altenew inks

 Hi there.  Dawn here again.

Our theme for the month of August is "watercolor real or faux".

The Prize will be a $20 gift certificate to Altenew.

Today I'm sharing a Faux watercoloured card.   A great easy way to do watercolouring.

To make my watercoloured flowers I used the layers of Nature Blossoms flower. I inked up with the first colour and spritzed with water before stamping onto some watercolour paper . I dried with my heat gun and did the next layer in the same manner. And finally the last layer. I used the Red Sunset inks from Altenew - one using the first three inks and two using the 2nd - 4th inks. The centres are stamped using inks from the Warm and Cozy set. I die cut with the matching dies and then blended a little of the ink on the edges. For the leaves I used inks from the Green Meadow inks and did some smooshing onto wet watercolour paper. After it dried, I overstamped some leaves. I die cut the leaves and with some of the extra watercolour paper, I die cut some branches from the Branches and Berries Die set. My other faux watercolour technique used the Classy Stripe stencil - I inked it with the Crimson ink, spritzed with water and used it to "stamp" onto my card base. Loved how it looks. the sentiment is from the Engraved Flowers set.

Do come and join us for this month's challenge.

I like making watercolor backgrounds-water coloring images, not so much. So, here is a background I did with Brushos, and overlaid the Altenew die over it! For more information on this card, please visit me at Just A Nutter Paper Crafter.

Altenew's Sketchy Flower Watercolored Card

Hi Friends! It's Sue and I have a card for you. Just a quick review. This month, our sponsor is Altenew. They generously will be giving our winner a $20 gift certificate to their store.

Our challenge this month is

WATERCOLOR - REAL OR FAUX

Here's my card

For my card, I used Altenew's Sketchy Floral stamp set and Sweetest Peas stamp set. I was hoping for a "messy" look achieved with lots of water where the color isn't confined to areas but can go "outside the lines". For more detail on how I made my card, please check out my foleysfriend blog

We'd love to see you watercolor (real or faux) creations. Don't forget to use a die cut! We are Die Cut Divas, after all! LOL!

A Happy Birthday in Green

Hi there.   Dawn here to share my card to inspire you today.   Our theme this month is tone-on-tone.   And our superb sponser is Birch Press Design  this month and they have donated a $20 gift card for our random winner (to be announced August 3rd).

My card using the stunning Big Birthday Sugar Script die which the lovely Diva Cindy sent me a few precut.  I took the inner die and used some Dark green Altenew ink to colour up.... be warned though - keep an eye on the tiddle.... mine decided to run away and I couldn't find it.... I had some lovely green patterned paper but it wasn't quite the green I needed so I used the same dark ink to blend over it and the white layer.  Once the dark green die was added to the white shadow layer I added it to the blended background and stamped a little happy.  To finish a little dark green butterfly.  Loving this mini slimline size.

Thanks for stopping by today.  You have till 9.00 pm Pacific Time on the 31st to join our challenge.

More Play With Birch Press Design

I really couldn't stop playing with the String Art Frame, as you can tell.  You can create so many gorgeous cards and get a little creative too.  I had a piece of alcohol inked paper and saw this piece as part of the earth in clouds and went with it.  I mounted the String Art Frame on a navy panel, affixed a sentiment and it was done.

When I was coloring one of the frames, I tore a piece and then thought of making a circle with two partial frames, so cut another partial frame and rotated the frames so both outer edges would show in slightly different colors.  I now have a totally different shape made from the same die.

Birch Press Design String Art Frame - both cards
Birch Press Design birthday - 2nd card
Vagabond die cut machine
Sentiment pre-cut on 1st card & gems on 2nd card

Tone -on-Tone Birthday Wishes with Birch Press

Hi Dawn here to share my Birch Press designs.... Our sponsor this month is Birch Press Design who will be giving our winner a $20 gift certificate.

I was lucky that my Teamie, Arlene, sent me some Birch Press die cuts - String Art Frame.  Today I have a Twofer using one the frames..

Card 1

I started by jnking up my card base - using all four inks in the Altenew Warm and Cozy set.  I then took the frame die and using the darkest ink (Firebrick) used my mini blending brush to colour it up.  I did this over some white card and got a bonus background.  I added the frame over my card base, and then used a circle stamp and sentiment from Gina K's Wreath Builder set.  A few little gold gems finished my card....

Card 2

This is how I used my bonus background

Loved the look of the background.  I stamped one of the Dovetail Butterflies from Altenew in the Firebrick ink and Obsidan black ink.  I used the matching die cut and added it with some 3D tape to the card.    I used the same orange as my card base to die cut the Birthday sentiment from Paper Roses.  I used vellum for it's shadow layer and then did a bit of stamp surgery on a sentiment from Altenew's Sentiment Strip set.   A few little black gems and it's done.

Do come and join us this month with our Tone-on-Tone challenge.
